Tagaini Jisho 0.2.3 released
A new Tagaini Jisho release has been made available.

This release fixes many bugs and adds a couple of improvements, like a much better dates handling (supporting relative and absolute dates) and the possibility to save and organize searches in sets that basically act like bookmarks.
New features include print preview (especially handy to evaluate the size of a booklet) and a new reading practice mode, that puts studied words that only contain studied kanji in front of the user and ask for the correct reading.
The user also gains more control over which entries to train with a new train settings configuration dialog, that allows to filter entries by score or last training date and to influence the order in which entries should be appearing.

The main development efforts will new concentrate on the 0.3 series, which will see a redesign of a good part of the lower-level code to allow more powerful features to take place and should put the bases to a 1.0 release. The 0.2 series may still see a couple more releases with backported features.

Dictionary form
Will the conversion of verbs back to dictionary form be implemented soon? I keep having to go to jisho.org whenever I come across a word that isn't in dictionary form =(

It will definitely be implemented someday, but will require some time - this is not a simple matter. Probably around the 0.3 series or so.
Example sentences
How about adding example sentences for the vocabularies? This will be helpful in understanding the concept of the word. I think you can use the JDIC server of Jim Breen for this. Thanks for making this SW, it really helps us a lot in preparing for the JLPT exam! :-)

Example sentences are planned - they will be added in a future version. It will take some time, but this is one of the features I would like to see implemented soon.
A concept suggestion

I would have an interesting idea to also give the meaning of the kanji etymology. Unfortunately at the moment, I do not know any free source for this, but if one exists it would be a nice additional feature. This is the only source I am aware of (http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/henshall_mnem.html), but using it needs a permission. It's not complete either.

I don't think integrating this feature would be so useful - I for myself make my own analogies between kanjis in order to remember them. The list you proposed is only one instance of the images one can make - I believe the process is much more powerful when you build your own images yourself. In addition, the terms of use seems to be incompatible with the licence of Tagaini. :(

You're right. Maybe it wouldn't be that useful feature. At least spending time for that may not be the best solution now. Though, sometimes seeing a Mnemonic helps you to remember the kanji better, but making an own rule sounds much better idea, yes. Actually morely I would be interested about seeing the real, original etymology of the kanjis. It would be fun to know what the kanji standed for. But as said, I don't know any free use source for this at the moment. Besides, I guess I find the details from a book if I really want to study that.
However, I hope you find the other wished features a little more useful. I listed those in the blueprints section as I feel those are much more important. Especially, the search-by-reading (as detailed) is a necessity; integrated-input-method makes the program a little more user friendly, but may be difficult to integrate.
Even as for now, I must admit your software is one of the best. I really wait for the day when the example sentences (Tanaka Corpus) has been integrated. I understand it still takes much effort and time before that's done.

I agree with your blueprints
I agree with your blueprints actually - they make perfect sense. The purpose of Tagaini is not to replace IME (fix it or replace it by something better, Tagaini is a dictionary ;)) but I plan to integrate some experimental input method for kanjis at some time.
Kanjis search by reading actually somehow works, but it too basic to be really usable. I need to write a custom SQLite tokenizer to handle that correctly, it is on the works.
